William Onyeabor was a Nigerian musician who self-produced and self-released a series of synthesiser-driven Afrobeat and electro-funk albums in the 1970s and early 1980s on his own Wilfilms label in Enugu. His records were almost entirely unknown outside Nigeria until Luaka Bop's 2013 compilation brought him to worldwide attention. He refused all interviews, citing his Christian faith.
