Rainford Hugh Perry, known as Lee Scratch Perry or the Upsetter, is the most innovative and mystical figure in Jamaican music, essentially inventing dub music and the modern recording studio as instrument at his Black Ark studio in Kingston. His productions for Bob Marley and the Wailers, Junior Murvin, and the Congos are central to reggae history. His eccentric genius made him a legend.
