About

Lawrence Ira Kahn, known as Larry Harlow or El Judio Maravilloso (the Marvelous Jew), was a Jewish-American pianist who became one of the leading figures of the Fania Records era salsa boom. His piano style fused jazz with Afro-Cuban tradition, and his ambitious projects like Hommy — a salsa adaptation of The Who's Tommy — pushed the genre into new territory.
