Producer Profile
Arthur Reid, known as Duke Reid the Trojan, ran Treasure Isle studio and was Coxsone Dodd's primary rival in the formative years of Jamaican music. His rocksteady productions — particularly for Alton Ellis, John Holt, and the Paragons — are considered the most elegant and sophisticated in the genre. His sound system battles with Dodd shaped the competitive culture of dancehall.
