Callen Radcliffe Tjader was a California-born vibraphonist who became one of the most successful non-Latino artists in Latin jazz, recording more than 60 albums that fused West Coast jazz with Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. His Fantasy Records albums are beloved by crate diggers for their warmth and groove. He won a Grammy for La Onda Va Bien in 1981.
