FaniaRecords—Latin
FOUNDED 1964 · NEW YORK CITY, US
ABOUT
Johnny Pacheco and Jerry Masucci founded Fania in New York in 1964, establishing it as the definitive home of New York salsa. The label's Fania All-Stars supergroup brought together the greatest Latin musicians in the city for massive concerts and recordings that defined the sound of the Latin diaspora. Fania's polyrhythmic foundation makes it one of the richest vaults in world music.
PRODUCER NOTES
Fania percussion arrangements — congas, timbales, bongos, and cowbell layered over Afro-Cuban clave patterns — offer an almost infinite supply of percussion loops. The brass stabs on Fania sides cut through any mix.
