CrateDrop — random record discovery for producers and crate diggers

What is CrateDrop?

CrateDrop is a free random record discovery tool for music producers, beatmakers, DJs and crate diggers. Press DIG and it pulls a random release from the Discogs database of 16 million records and plays it instantly via YouTube.

Is CrateDrop free?

Yes, completely. Digging is free and unlimited with no account needed, and a free account adds favorites, crates and playlists, full dig history, track notes, saved filter presets and music video mode.

How do I find samples with CrateDrop?

Filter by genre, style, decade, country and obscurity (YouTube view count caps like DEEP, RARE or SECRET), then keep pressing DIG. Every track links to WhoSampled and its Discogs release so you can check what it has sampled or been sampled in.

What genres does CrateDrop cover?

Every genre on Discogs: funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, electronic, rock, reggae and dub, blues, Latin, African and world music, library and film music, classical and more — with 400+ sub-styles.

Where do CrateDrop records come from?

Release data comes from the Discogs API and playback from YouTube. CrateDrop does not host audio.

How is CrateDrop different from other music discovery sites?

CrateDrop is built specifically for sample digging: one-button random discovery across all of Discogs, obscurity filters that surface low-view records, WhoSampled links, and a community of producers sharing finds.
